The Art of a Balanced Golf Swing
Let’s face it, golfers balance and weight distribution are the unsung heroes of a Proper golf swing. Sure, we all love to talk about swing speed and launch angles, but if your weight is off and your body isn’t working together like a well-oiled machine, you can kiss that distance and accuracy goodbye. But if you add in a little bit of balance and proper weight distribution now you have a recipe for a balanced golf swing to raise those scores, for sure.
Proper Golf Swing Basics
But fear not, my friends. We’ve got the inside scoop straight from some pro golf instructors on proper golf swing and how to nail that balanced, stacked finish every single time. It’s all about feeling that your head, shoulders, hips, and legs are working in perfect harmony. No more of that “funky move” stuff where your upper and lower body are fighting each other. You know when you see “the funky swing” it doesn’t look like it feels too good, let alone the feeling isn’t good either. Nope, we’re talking smooth, fluid motion from start to finish.
Balanced Golf Swing Posture
So how do you get there? Well, it all starts with your posture. You want to be slightly bent at the knees, butt back, arms dangling. Then it’s time to get that weight shifting, rocking back and forth, swinging the arms, really letting the legs and the upper body sync up. It is wise to clear your mind on this task to be totally sure your upper and lower body feels in sync.
This practice swing drill is pure gold and should be a habit before playing. You’ll start to notice that your legs will jump in. The arms and legs really need to talk to one another during the golf swing to keep total harmony.
But once you master this fluid, relaxed motion, it’s game on. With the club in hand, you can set up with that same balanced, stacked posture, and let it rip. Remember to keep your knees “soft” and everything is nicely balanced over that lead side. No more of that heavy, upper-body-dominated swing.
You know what’s the real kicker? Using your eyes to guide the way. It might sound a little wacky, but your eyes actually play a huge role in maintaining that balanced swing. It’s all about letting your eyes flow with the swing and finish looking straight out to your target. This helps keep everything stacked and centered, rather than getting all crossed up.
Look, we all want to finish each shot with that perfectly balanced, controlled follow through. It’s the mark of a solid golf swing, and it’s the key to unlocking more distance, more accuracy, and lower scores. So take a page out of my playbook, get those weight shifts and body movements dialed in, and use those eagle eyes to guide the way. Balance is where it’s at.
Recap golf swing tips:

- Practice swing drill – allowing practice to get the club in the same body motion.
- Clear your mind – Practice to not think about hitting. (clear mind clear shot)
- Eyes Guild – Having your eye’s follow your swing to the target helps provide a balance golf swing.
